Crikvenica is a town in western Croatia, in Kvarner Bay, administratively part of Primorsko-goranska županija. The town consists of 4 settlements: Crikvenica, Dramalj, Jadranovo and Selce.

The settlement developed at the mouth of the Dubračina River, on the site of the Roman station Ad turres. In the past, it served as a port for smaller Vinodol settlements inland, as well as the Frankopan centres of Bribir, Grižane, Drivenik, Tribalj and others.

Crikvenica is located on the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea, known as Hrvatsko primorje, in the Kvarner Bay area, just 35 kilometres from the city of Rijeka, the centre of Primorsko-goranska županija. This major transport hub and the largest Croatian port is also the nearest access to the sea for all of Central Croatia and a large part of Central Europe.

The town of Crikvenica, as a local self-government unit, consists of the following places from north to south: Jadranovo, Dramalj, Crikvenica and Selce. It borders the Town of Kraljevica, the Vinodol Municipality and the Town of Novi Vinodolski.

Crikvenica has a Mediterranean climate, characterised by warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Average summer temperatures range between 25 °C and 30 °C, while winter temperatures usually vary from 5 °C to 10 °C. Thanks to the proximity of the Adriatic Sea, the climate is very pleasant, with many sunny days throughout the year. Precipitation is most common in autumn and winter. The highest maximum daily temperature was recorded on 17 July 1928 and was 39 °C, while the lowest was recorded on 11 February 1929 and was -14 °C.
