On the eastern side of the island of Krk lies the municipality of Dobrinj, with the center of the same name. Dobrinj is situated on a hill about 200 meters high and is one of the medieval fortified settlements that in the past were centers of literacy.

Dobrinjština has for centuries been a distinctly agricultural area. Livestock breeding, olive growing, and the use of forest resources were all represented. The place is known for its colorful folk costume, folklore events, the sopela school (the Krk wind instrument), and traditional local cuisine. In this island center, indigenous stone houses and narrow stone streets prevail, evoking times gone by.

Not far from Dobrinj is the Biserujka cave, the only one of more than 50 caves on the island arranged for visitor access, which delights visitors with the beauty and interest of its deposited formations. According to legend, it was named after treasure found there that belonged to local pirates.
