KRK ISLAND, MALINSKA - House in the first row to the sea

Old stone house in Malinska, just a few meters from the sea, consisting of three floors and two apartments. The property has been completely reconstructed and renovated and offers open views of the sea and the harbor.

Ground floor: one-bedroom apartment with a room, bathroom, kitchen, and living room, from which there is access to a large terrace with open views of the sea and the harbor.

First floor and attic: a duplex apartment; on the first floor there is a bathroom, kitchen, dining room, living room, and a large terrace of about 20 m² with a beautiful view of the sea, while the attic contains two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Storage and parking: 3 storage rooms and two parking spaces.

Heating and cooling are provided by air-conditioning units, 4 in total. All rooms have air conditioning/inverter heating and cooling and Norwegian radiators, while the living room, which is as long as 10 meters, has underfloor heating and a gas/wood fireplace. The bedrooms also have radiators and air conditioning units.

A new slab has been built between the ground floor and the upper floors. All joinery, including windows, doors, and shutters, is made of larch, while the stairs leading to the attic are made of cherry wood. The attic roof is concrete with insulation almost half a meter thick.

Most of the time is spent on the terrace, where 6 people can dine at the same table. The terrace is built of rustic stone, covered with a wooden roof, and finished with Mediterranean roof tiles.

Malinska and its entire area are called Dubašnica and are located in the western part of the island of Krk. Until the 15th century, Dubašnica had almost no permanent inhabitants, just like the area to the south of it, almost as far as the town of Krk. The name of the area comes from dub or oak, because there are rich forests and pastures here, along with some arable land. Dubašnica was mostly the Omišalj area already from the 12th century, although part of it was also held by the people of Krk.

Malinska, as the center of Dubašnica, once an island port for timber export, was also a favorite tourist destination of the Viennese aristocracy. It is mentioned in the 15th century as a good anchorage where ships sheltered during stronger winds, especially the strong south wind. With the arrival of the steamship in 1866, Malinska changed from a timber-export port into a climatic health resort thanks to its mild climate with about 260 sunny days a year. Today it is one of the stronger island tourist destinations, known for its many beaches and developed hotel industry as well as family tourism.

Not far from Malinska lies Porat, a quiet place where the population once lived from fishing, while today tourism has taken the leading role. The name of the place comes from the Italian word porto, which means harbor.

The beaches in Malinska and on the island of Krk are known as some of the best in Croatia. One of the advantages of the indented and wide coastline in Malinska is that the beaches are never far away, wherever you go. The varied coastline of the island offers a wide range of beaches: from rocky, sandy, and pebble beaches to hidden coves. Beaches for children, for people with disabilities, non-swimmers or older people, dog beaches, beaches for those looking for natural shade and proximity to parking spaces, lovers of sports activities and beach bars, as well as an unofficial nudist beach - Malinska offers all of this.

The beaches in the area of the municipality of Malinska-Dubašnica are connected by numerous promenades and form a unique natural whole. The level of beach development ranges from arranged concrete platforms to wild, rocky adventure entrances into the sea, as well as many more hidden and secluded swimming spots in small coves worth visiting. The beaches stretch across the western part of the island of Krk: they begin along the Paradise Road connecting Malinska and Njivice, and end beyond the romantic little town of Porat.
