On the eastern side of Krk Island lies the municipality of Dobrinj with its namesake center. Dobrinj is located on a hill about 200 meters high and is one of the medieval fortified towns that were once centers of literacy.

Dobrinjština has for centuries been a distinctly agricultural region. Livestock breeding and olive growing were also represented, as well as the use of forest resources. The place is also known for its colorful folk costume, folklore events, the sopela school (a Krk wind instrument), and traditional local cuisine.
