MALINSKA and its entire area is called Dubašnica and is located in the western part of the island of Krk. Until the 15th century, Dubašnica was almost without permanent residents, as was the area to the south of it, almost as far as the town of Krk. The name of the area comes from duba or oak, because there are rich forests and pastures here, along with some arable land.
