On the eastern side of the island of Krk lies the municipality of Dobrinj, with the center of the same name. Dobrinj is located on a hill about 200 meters high and is one of the medieval fortified towns that were once centers of literacy.

Dobrinjština has for centuries been a distinctly agricultural area. Livestock breeding and olive growing were also represented, as well as the use of forest resources. The place is known for its colorful folk costume, folklore events, the sopela school (a wind instrument from Krk), and traditional local cuisine. In this island center, indigenous stone houses and narrow stone streets prevail, evoking times gone by.

Not far from Dobrinj is the Biserujka cave, the only one of more than 50 caves on the island arranged for visitor access, which delights with the beauty and interest of its deposited formations. According to legend, it was named after treasure found in it that belonged to local pirates.
