Barban is a small picturesque medieval settlement of acropolis type in Istria, in the southeast of the Istrian peninsula, located above the valley of the Raša River. It is 20 km from Pula and 12 km from Labin and is well connected by the main road Pula - Rijeka and the regional roads Barban - Žminj and Barban - Vodnjan. It is known for the knightly game Trka na prstenac, which is traditionally held in August, the fig festival and fig cake festival, and other smaller events that have developed over the last ten years, since rural tourism has been developing rapidly.
