The Mediterranean climate, with mild and pleasant warm sunny summers whose daytime temperatures are moderated by a breeze from the sea, gives us reason to state that Novi Vinodolski has a stable, mild and healthy Mediterranean climate with 2,400 to 2,500 hours of sunshine per year.

The average air temperature in the winter months is around 10 degrees C, while in the summer months it does not exceed 27 to 29 degrees, so the average temperature is around 15°C.

Swimming is possible already in May, when the sea temperature is around 18°C, while in the summer months it warms up to 26 degrees, and in the September calm and sea stillness the sea temperature returns to a pleasant 18 to 20 degrees.

Although the days of the summer bathing season are mostly sunny, the temperatures are bearable because the mild winds blowing through the Vinodol Channel soften the summer heat and turn it into pleasant air baths.

From the land toward the sea blows the bora, which refreshes the coastal heat with mountain air, while from the sea toward the land blows the sirocco, which brings humid but also warm sea air. Other winds, such as the maestral, burin, levant or tramontana, are especially favorable for sailing enthusiasts.
